DER 736 was recommended by Dr Spurr for his low viscosity medium. Unfortunately, the manufacturer is charged ~$10,000 by the Australian government when introducing chemicals new to this country, however closely related to accepted chemicals the new ones are. So we were counselled by the manufacturer that DER 732 would work as well with a minor change in quantities only. It appears that, particularly when staining with Tol. Blue O using DER 732, the resin itself is stained. We can bring in DER 736 in small bottle quantities, but at a rather higher price than the DER 732. MSDS

DMP (2,2-Dimethoxypropane, is a quick material for quickly processing tissue preparations for SEM and TEM. Initial dehydration with ethanol or acetone is recommended. DMP acts by chemically converting any remaining water to acetone. So complete dehydration is assured without special efforts to dry acetone or ethanol to achieve complete dehydration.
